Vilas Dhar is the Founder of the Next Mile Project, an integrated co-working space and collaborative community where mission-driven nonprofits connect, learn, and grow together.
Vilas is also a co-founder at Dhar Law, LLP. Vilas represents clients in a wide variety of corporate transactions, including representing buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions involving both public and private companies, as well as investors and issuers in early stage investments.
Vilas has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Boston Magazine and New England Super Lawyers, and has been invited to serve as an “Engineer in Residence” by the University of Illinois. Vilas has lectured and published articles on the field of microfinance, with a focus on increasing efficiency in microfinance institutions and developing country policies related to banking and microfinance infrastructure.
Additionally, he has been consulted by large financial institutions on developing platforms for commercializing socially conscious lending.
Vilas holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of Barristers. Vilas also holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois. Vilas is an active member of the American Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the NYU Alumni Association. While attending law school, Vilas was an editor of the Moot Court Board and authored a problem for publication in the NYU Moot Court Casebook. He was recognized as the Best Oralist at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Atlantic Regional Competition.
