CHARITY WARRIORS CHALLENGE

COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS


ELIGIBILITY

  • The organization is a registered 501c3 nonprofit or fiscally sponsored, and registered on Guidestar.

  • The “warrior” representing the organization identifies as a woman, and serves as the chief executive, staff, board member, or volunteer.

  • The organization is operationally active, with some level of program implementation.

  • The organization has demonstrated success, addressing an important social cause.

  • The organization is actively fundraising, with some prior success.

  • The organization is based, or is operating in Massachusetts


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

1. All communication must be aligned with Power Launch’s messaging and brand. Please refer to our brand resources. Fundraising communication must include reference to the Charity Warriors Challenge including what it is.

Any marketing of a fundraiser must inform the public that their purchase or donation will contribute to the organization’s Charity Warriors Challenge campaign.

3. Each organization must complete all challenges to be eligible to win the competition. To complete each challenge, you must meet the minimum requirements stated.

4. Organizations are able to accept donations via the Give Lively platform, starting on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 and ending on June 4, 2019 at 5:00 PM. Only funds collected that were not be previously pledged are counted toward the organization's competition fundraising total.

5. Organizations may accept donations via check or any of Give Lively’s fundraising tools, including the organization’s online profile page and various campaigns (in addition to the challenge tools). All checks must be recorded upon receipt on the Give Lively platform meter and all donations must be able to be verified by Power Launch. At the discretion of Power Launch’s team, select donations may be verified by phone, or by electronic survey (sent to and completed by the donor).

6. Power Launch reserves the right to review and grant approval for the use of alternative payment processors. For example, A third party fundraiser may require collection of funds using its own platform, and then make a donation to the organization.

7. Each organization can recruit an unlimited number of people to fundraise on their behalf throughout the competition, using the Give Lively peer-to-peer fundraising pages, text-to-give, electronic checks, through events, or online giving pages.

8. The designated warrior will deliver the final pitch. Refer to eligibility guidelines above for warrior criteria.

9. Each organization will abide by Give Lively’s use requirements. Read Give Lively’s guide here.

10. Organization must certify their results through submission of the form (posted below).


CHALLENGE #1 - FIRST IMPRESSION CHALLENGE

Film a video that introduces your cause and inspires others to get involved. Create an attention-grabbing profile page on Give Lively featuring your organization, and generate content that your team, and Power Launch, can use to publicize your involvement in the competition.  

  • Film one video, no longer than 2 minutes, introducing your “warrior” and your cause. You may choose to film one member of your team, or record multiple videos (this might come in handy later). You must submit a video that includes one representative “warrior” by Tuesday, May 14.

  • Use a mobile device or computer to film your video.

  • Do not add special video effects such as slides, title pages, or design overlay.

  • The video must be recorded with continuous filming, and submitted without cuts.

  • Upload your video to Dropbox and share to mary@powerlaunch.org and insert the file url link into the form below..

  • Upload relevant materials to your Give Lively org. page AND submit files to Power Launch via mary@powerlaunch.org or through Dropbox by Tuesday, May 14.

  • HEADSHOT:  Submit a headshot (square). The photo must be of your “warrior” alone.

  • MISSION MEDIA:  Submit two photos representing your organization's work (square) and a video (if you have one).

  • BANNER PHOTO:  Submit a compelling, high-quality banner photograph representing your mission (min.1500px wide). You must have use rights for the photo. Keep in mind that a page title will overlay the photo (see above), obstructing some of the image.

  • ABOUT YOUR WARRIOR:  Write an enticing short personal introduction of yourself.

  • ORG. PURPOSE: Share your organization's purpose in ONE sentence e.g. WellStrong utilizes fitness and mindfulness to help addicts win their battles with addiction.

  • ABOUT YOUR ORG. Tell us briefly how your organization does the work? (1short paragraph)

  • NEED:  Describe the need your organization is trying to address. (1short paragraph)

  • IMPACT:  Demonstrate the impact of your organization. (1short paragraph)

  • QUOTE:  Submit a personal quote about the work the you do.

  • FUND-A-NEED: Identify the ways people can support your cause.


CHALLENGE # 2 - PEER-TO-PEER CHALLENGE

You and a team of your organization's most passionate supporters will work to raise funds together.

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Each Charity Warriors Challenge participating organization will designate a Team Captain and will recruit a minimum of two additional fundraisers to create their peer-to-peer fundraising team. One of the fundraisers must be the organization’s designated “warrior”.

  • Each team member must raise a minimum of $250.

  • There is no limit to the number of fundraisers.

  • Each member must establish a separate peer-to-peer fundraising page on the Give Lively platform.

  • We encourage your team to include at least one member of the org. senior/executive team (staff), one board member, and one volunteer.

  • You are responsible for guiding your team members to set up individual Give Lively peer-to-peer fundraising pages.

  • All team fundraising on Give Lively may begin on May 15, 2019 and must conclude before 5:00 PM June 4, 2019.

  • Paper checks may be received and counted toward the team’s fundraising total. All checks must be recorded on the Give Lively platform meter and all donations must be able to be verified by Power Launch.*

CHALLENGE # 3 - TEXT-TO-GIVE CHALLENGE

Use the text-to-give Give Lively tool to raise funds for your campaign.

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Secure a minimum of 10 donations (of any amount) via Text-to-Give (through a creative strategy such as an event, social media campaign, online communication, street team).

  • You may enlist the help of volunteers, staff, or board members to work with you on this challenge.

  • All text-to-give fundraising on Give Lively may begin on May 15, 2019 and must conclude before 5:00 PM on June 4, 2019.


CHALLENGE # 4 - EVENT CHALLENGE

Plan a cultivation or fundraising event.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Confirm 10 event attendees or sponsors, through an event page on Give Lively. Give Lively’s pages can be used for free tickets, paid for tickets, paid for sponsorships, journal ads, etc.

  • The event may be virtual.

  • The event must be new. It may not be a pre-existing annual event.

  • The event does not need to occur within the competition timeframe.

  • The event tickets may be free.

  • Paper checks may be received and counted toward the organization’s fundraising total. All checks must be recorded on the Give Lively platform meter and all donations must be able to be verified by Power Launch.*

CHALLENGE #5 - THE GIFT CHALLENGE

Secure new or increased gifts, or multi-year pledges of $1,000 or above.

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Donations are processed using the ACH payment (electronic check) Give Lively feature.

  • A minimum of one $1,000+ gift is secured (new donor, or increased giving of $1,000) and processed through Give Lively.

  • Additional paper checks may be received and counted toward the organization’s fundraising total. All checks must be recorded on the Give Lively platform meter, and all donations must be able to be verified by Power Launch.*

  • Multi-year pledges are made in writing, are signed, with payment details specified.

  • Donations may be accepted from an individual, family foundation, or company.

  • Donations made during the Challenge may be included in donor membership programs, or provided benefits that would otherwise be offered as recognition of equivalent gifts.

  • Multi-year pledges are able to be verified.

FINAL PITCH CHALLENGE

Deliver a well-crafted speech to inspire others to support your cause.

Five Charity Warriors Challenge finalists will pitch their causes to a panel of judges and live audience. One organization will be awarded $10,000.

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS

  • The five organizations that raise the most during the challenge will win an invitation to pitch at the final challenge.

  • The pitch will be delivered by the organization’s “warrior”.

  • The speaking order of warriors during the Final Pitch event will be determined at random.

  • Each pitch must be no more than two-minutes in length. The judges will ask 2-3 follow-up questions.

  • The audience and judges will vote to determine the overall winner, who will be awarded $10,000.

  • Each pitch must include the following:

 
  • Mission

  • Program model

  • Compelling need

  • Demonstrated impact

  • Call to action

  • Personal passion (inner warrior)


CERTIFY YOUR FUNDRAISING TOTAL.

Report your fundraising total, and certify your results by 6:00 PM on June 4, 2019, to be eligible to receive an invitation to the Final Pitch event on June 13, for a chance to win $10,000.
